Background
The First International Symposium on Rehabilitation of Tropical Rainforest Ecosystems organized by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Mitsubishi Corporation, was held in Kuching, Sarawak from September 2-4, 1992. This second symposium will address issues related to indicators of forest health, including research findings from this project in particular. Paper and poster presentations will be requested by invitation.
The symposium will be held at the Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur from October 24-25, 2011. Participants will also be invited to join in a planting event prior to the symposium at UPM, Serdang (approximately 15km from Kuala Lumpur) on October 23, 2011.
Objectives
1. To provide a platform for researchers, academics, policy-makers, industry practitioners and students to discuss and share their experiences in the field of forest rehabilitation.
2. To discuss recent research findings and current issues related to forest rehabilitation.
3. To promote international collaboration amongst scientists, academics, policy-makers and forest industry stakeholders.
